Introductory Tenancies

Introductory tenancies usually last for one year as a ‘trial period’, although this period can be extended if the conditions of the tenancy are not being kept to.

Here is a brief summary of the rights that are available to introductory tenants:

• Right of succession of partner/family member
• Right to repair
• Right to be consulted on housing management issues
• Right to assign.

• Right to Buy (the introductory period does count towards the discount)
• Right to take in lodgers
• Right to sublet
• Right to improve
• Right to exchange.
