You may have seen lately that there are changes to the eligibility for receipt of the Winter Fuel Payments to Pensioners as a means tested Benefit for those in receipt of Pension Credit.
The DWP are undertaking a National campaign to raise awareness of Pension Credit and encourage up to 880,000 (potentially eligible) pensioners, to claim.
We are supporting the DWP's effort to encourage all eligible pensioners to claim Pension Credit (which may also entitle them to other support eg free TV licences for the over 75’s).

You will start to see adverts in the media as well as flyers around the District.
The majority of Pension Credit claimants, claim online but paper forms are available as well as a telephone service.

- Have the following information ready:
- National Insurance Number
- Information about any income, savings and investments you have
- Bank details
- Apply online - Visit https://gov.uk/pension-credit to apply online. Alternatively you can call the Pension Credit Claim Line on 0800 991234
- Wait to hear from them - You will be notified by post when your claim has been assessed.
