3 Amazing Summer Events in Eckington

During the school summer holidays, we delivered three fantastic activities in the Eckington Parish.

The events offered a great day out for the family for just £1 entry per person with lunch provided for each child.

Renishaw Mega Fun Day

Around 200 people attended this fun-packed event!

The event cost £1 per person and included lunch for every child.

Activities included:

  • Football coaching
  • Bouncy castle
  • Cricket
  • Yoga
  • Character photo opportunities
  • Forest School
  • Crafts
  • and much more!

One parent said: "It is the best £3 I have spent all year!"

Eckington By The Sea

Despite the wind and rain, around 300 people joined us for a Great British seaside experience at the Eckington By The Sea event.

Activities included:

  • Fairground rides
  • Shetland ponies
  • Sand pit
  • Giant deckchair
  • Magic bubbles
  • Circus Skills
  • Games
  • and much more!

One of the parents in attendance at the event told us: "It's so nice not to have to say no to the kids because everything is included in the £1, which meant I wasn't stressed and they weren't disappointed!"

Olympics in a Day

Around 200 people joined us for an Olympic-themed event in Renishaw.

Activities included:

  • Opening torch parade with crafted torches
  • Olympic-themed crafts
  • Wonder Woman photo opportunities
  • Music
  • Snakes and tarantulas
  • and much more!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make these events possible - we couldn't have done it without you!

Spud and a Pud

Around 30 people attended Green Lawns in Marsh Lane every week throughout the school summer holidays to enjoy a two-course homecooked meal for just £2 per person with children eating for free.

This fantastic event was supported by Rykneld Homes, Marsh Lane Tenants and Residents Group and community volunteers.

Breakfast Bags

In Renishaw and Marsh Lane we gave out free Breakfast Hampers during the school summer holidays.

The hampers supported some of the most vulnerable families to provide food for their children, who would receive a free school meal.
