If you are a secure tenant and have held a tenancy (with North East Derbyshire District Council or any other public sector landlord) for more than three years, you will generally have the right to buy or acquire your home although there are exceptions such as:
- You will not qualify if you are an undischarged bankrupt or awaiting eviction
- Sheltered housing and some other properties suitable for elderly or disabled persons are exempt from Right to Buy – other exceptions include temporary or tied tenancies.
