We were recently involved in an exciting project in Eckington. We supported Eckington Parish Council, who have collaborated with One Planet Matters (a national environmental group and social enterprise) and North East Derbyshire District Council to create a number of community orchards across the district.
Jude from our Community Involvement Team along with District and Parish Councillors Cllr Phillip Wheelhouse, Cllr Carolyn Renwick and Cllr Jeremy Kenyon, Parish Councillor Cllr Andy Dye, Kevin Thomas from One Planet Matters and a number of residents, allotment holders and volunteers planted a large number of trees in a quiet green space in the heart of the village.
The group have also planted an area in Renishaw and plan to create more community orchards across the district.
Our Community Involvement Team will continue to support the project, helping contribute towards the one million trees movement.
